Terms and Conditions
48 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule driving lessons. Otherwise, there is a $50 cancellation fee. (Fee may be waived under extenuating circumstances).
Please allow 15–minute leeway before and after the scheduled time for an in–car lesson. The instructor will call if there is any delay of more than 15 minutes or if there is a possibility for an early start of more than 15 minutes, but scheduled appointments should always have an implied “ish” after the time. Please call if you are running late, too.
As per MTO rules, the student has one year to complete a Beginning Driver Education program. Other than that, there is no expressed or implied guarantee as to how long it will take to finish the course (please see “Additional Training and Express Service” on the “forms” page).
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that s/he schedules each driving lesson with the instructor, and to ensure that s/he completes the course in a timely fashion. We will work around your schedule.
Proper footwear is required while driving: no high heels, sandals, flip–flops or heavy work boots.
Student driver *must* have his/her license on his/her person in order to drive.
Student must bring the latest version of the Driver’s Handbook to class every day.
Student must be on time, and must not take more time than allotted for breaks.
Student must practice driving (once in–car lessons have begun) at every given opportunity.
Cell phones should be turned off in class.
Snacks and drinks are allowed in class, but the student must clean up his/her own mess.
Smart–aleck comments during class are encouraged. Yes… really.
The class consists of four days in–class, 10 hours in–car, and 10 hours (approx.) of homework. All three components must be complete to earn a certificate.
Certification is now done electronically, not on paper. To get your insurance discount, you need to fill out the “Driver License History Request” and bring it to the MTO (the instructor will provide a copy of the request form to the student at the end of the last lesson, and it is available for download on the “forms” page). Once the student is certified, it will show on the License History, and a copy of that History should be given to your insurance agent or broker. In–car training is all one–on–one. Because of insurance coverage, only the student and the instructor may be in the training car during a lesson.
The cost of the course is tax–inclusive, and covers the in–class as well as 10 hours on the road. Any additional training will be subject to further fees (please see “Additional Training and Express Service” on the “forms” page).
